1. 遮盖;掩蔽
If you cover something, you place something else over it in order to protect it, hide it, or close it.

e.g. Cover the casserole with a tight-fitting lid...
用大小合适的盖子盖住砂锅。
e.g. He whimpered and covered his face...
他掩面抽泣。

2. 盖在…上面;铺在…上面
If one thing covers another, it has been placed over it in order to protect it, hide it, or close it.

e.g. His finger went up to touch the black patch which covered his left eye...
他伸手去触摸遮住左眼的黑眼罩。
e.g. His head was covered with a khaki turban.
他头上包着卡其布的穆斯林头巾。

3. 盖;覆盖;遮住
If one thing covers another, it forms a layer over its surface.

e.g. The clouds had spread and nearly covered the entire sky...
云彩扩散开来，几乎遮住了整个天空。
e.g. Two oil slicks are covering a total area of seven square miles...
两层浮油漂浮在7平方英里的区域上。

不及物动词不见，消失; 不复存在，灭绝

1. (通常指因位置改变而)消失,不见
If you say that someone or something disappears, you mean that you can no longer see them, usually because you or they have changed position.

e.g. The black car drove away from them and disappeared...
那辆黑色轿车驶离了他们的视线。
e.g. Clive disappeared into a room by himself...
克莱夫独自一人进了屋。

2. 消失;失踪
If someone or something disappears, they go away or are taken away somewhere where nobody can find them.

e.g. ...a Japanese woman who disappeared thirteen years ago...
一个 13 年前失踪的日本女人
e.g. Janet's husband and sister noticed that small kitchen objects were disappearing with increasing regularity.
珍妮特的丈夫和她的姐姐发现厨房里的小物件经常不翼而飞，而且次数愈发频繁。

3. 不复存在;灭绝;消亡
If something disappears, it stops existing or happening.

e.g. The immediate security threat has disappeared.
直接的安全威胁已不复存在了。
