Here is an example of an informal planning meeting for a special event. Trey is organizing the event. He's asking his colleagues Jordan and Dylan to help him organize a retirement party. Listen to the kinds of tasks that are involved in planning this event. Thank you for coming on such short notice. You may have already heard. Planning a retirement party to honor Charlie Peterson. We're expecting around 200 people mostly as clients and co-workers. And I'm going to need your help.

Have you said it yet? Yeah, June 5th. And we decided on the landing at Northcut as the venue. I'm going to be meeting with their events plan in the next couple weeks. That's a great place. Nice choice. What can I do to help?

Well, I was hoping you'd contact the caterer and plan the venue. You're good at that. Sure. Sounds fun. And could you arrange for a cake? You know him pretty well. Whatever you think he'd like. No problem.

And Dylan, could you get someone to work on the slideshow? Probably somebody from marketing. We've got a lot of pictures of Charlie from winning with younger. Yeah, sure. I'll take care of that. And we're also going to need someone who's going to keep track of the people who are coming. Got to get a list of the caterer by May 30th. Can I put you in charge of that? Yeah, of course.

What about a speaker? Like someone who knows Charlie well? All right. I need to follow up on that. I wrote to Jack Phillips, but he hasn't responded yet. I'll follow up on that. Let's see. Jenny is going to apply for the banquet permit and Sherry is ordering the invitations. Okay. I guess that's it for now. That's everything on my to-do list. I'll set up a meeting in a few weeks.
