If something improves or if you improve it, it gets better.

e.g. Both the texture and condition of your hair should improve...

2. 提高;(使)变得更熟练
If a skill you have improves or you improve a skill, you get better at it.

e.g. Their French has improved enormously...
他们的法语进步很大。
e.g. He said he was going to improve his football.
他说他要提高足球技术。

3. 康复;健康好转
If you improve after an illness or an injury, your health gets better or you get stronger.

e.g. He had improved so much the doctor had cut his dosage.
他康复很快,医生已减少了用药剂量。

4. 超过;胜过
If you improve on a previous achievement of your own or of someone else, you achieve a better standard or result.

e.g. We need to improve on our performance against France.

If you find something interesting, it attracts your attention, for example because you think it is exciting or unusual.

e.g. It was interesting to be in a different environment...

e.g. The two halves of the town face each other, and both have interesting churches...

及物动词了解; 领会; 默认; 听说

1. 理解；明白；听懂
If you understand someone or understand what they are saying, you know what they mean.

e.g. I think you heard and also understand me...
我想你听到了我的话，也明白我的意思。
e.g. Rusty nodded as though she understood the old woman...
拉斯蒂点点头，好像听懂了那位老妇人的话似的。

2. 懂（某种语言）
If you understand a language, you know what someone is saying when they are speaking that language.

e.g. I couldn't read or understand a word of Yiddish, so I asked him to translate.
我根本不懂意第绪语，所以请他来翻译。

3. 理解（某人）
To understand someone means to know how they feel and why they behave in the way that they do.

e.g. It would be nice to have someone who really understood me, a friend...
要是有个真正理解我的人、有个朋友就好了。
e.g. Trish had not exactly understood his feelings...
特里希并没有完全理解他的感受。

4. 知道，明白，了解（所发生的事及其原因）
You say that you understand something when you know why or how it happens.

e.g. They are too young to understand what is going on...
他们还太小，不明白发生了什么事。
e.g. She didn't understand why the TV was kept out of reach of the patients...
她不明白为什么病人不能看电视。

5. 听说；获悉；了解
If you understand that something is the case, you think it is true because you have heard or read that it is. You can say that something is understood to be the case to mean that people generally think it is true.

e.g. We understand that she's in the studio recording her second album...
我们听说她正在录音棚录制她的第二张专辑。
e.g. I understand you've heard about David...
我知道你们已经听说了戴维的事了。

6. 获悉，间接得知
If someone is given to understand that something is the case, it is communicated to them that it is the case, usually without them being told directly.

e.g. I am given to understand that he was swearing throughout the game at our fans.
我得知整场比赛中他一直冲着我方球迷骂个不停。

7. 明白吗？懂了没有？
You can use understand in expressions like do you understand? or is that understood? after you have told someone what you want, to make sure that they have understood you and will obey you.

e.g. You do not hit my grandchildren, do you understand?...
你不准打我的孙子孙女，明白吗？
e.g. I don't need it, understand?...
我不需要，懂吗？
