Today we have a new pupil, Emily Elephant. Hello! Emily is a bit shy. Who would like to show Emily where to hang her coat? Peppa volunteers, and Madame Gazelle agrees. Peppa shows Emily her very own coat hook. Emily hangs her coat on her very own hook. Madame Gazelle says, “You have your very own room.” Emily feels special because everything is arranged for her. Emily is asked what she would like to do today: painting, clay, or building blocks. She isn’t sure but decides to try building blocks. Building blocks are very popular today; everyone wants to sit next to Emily. Peppa tells Emily, “You put one block on top of another, like this.” Others give different suggestions, saying it’s better to put them side by side. Everyone tries to help, but Emily thinks for herself and builds in her own way. She is good at building blocks, and everyone is impressed. It is playtime, and Emily is invited to play outside with the others. Peppa and her friends play in the school garden. They run around, shouting, “Catch me!” making lots of noise. Madame Gazelle suggests seeing who is the loudest. Peppa, Zoe Zebra, Susie Sheep, and Danny Dog take turns shouting. Peppa is the loudest until Emily tries. Emily’s shout is so loud that everyone is surprised. Emily is not shy anymore and enjoys being part of the group. Peppa asks Emily if she would like to play her favorite game. Emily asks, “What is your favorite game?” Peppa answers, “Jumping in muddy puddles.” Emily says that’s her favorite game too. Soon, everyone, including Madame Gazelle, is happily jumping in muddy puddles. At the end of the day, Madame Gazelle asks Emily if she enjoyed her first day at playgroup. Emily happily replies yes and says she has made lots of new friends. Everyone proudly says, “Emily Elephant is my friend!” Emily also names all her new friends, showing she feels happy and welcomed.
